On Blogging

I’ve tried to start this blog at least four times.

Reasons I’ve failed are numerous.

  1. Nothing to write about; working a low-level Microsoft job does not lead to an interesting life.
  2. Nothing to write about and no time to do it in; working at Amazon is a great way to get a crash course in crash courses.
  3. Too much writing going on already; any serious job hunt involves, or should involve, a lot of high-quality writing.
  4. Too many interesting things going on; many people keep journals. I don’t.

I’m now working for Google, and working semi-remotely: three weeks in Seattle, one week in New York City, rinse and repeat. It turns out that plane flights are pure catnip for writing.
